New dates through the end of the year are listed over there <----, to be added to later. Several private functions, but if you were resourceful, you'd figure out ways to crash. I'm just sayin'...
Posted June 11, 2013
All our Thursday night Willie's gigs will be weather dependant - if it's gonna rain, we won't be playing inside. So keep you eyes on the skies...
Posted May 8, 2013
The May 11 gig at Talegators is back on! They got a reprieve on the closing, so our gig will be the last ever there. Come say goodbye with us.
Posted April 23, 2013
New dates, changed dates, etc. All to the left. A busy summer awaits,,,
Posted March 13, 2013
The Mind Reels' Talegators gig formerly scheduled for March 16 has been pushed back to the 22nd - plus a new Tailgators date for The Outlets in May. Let the good times roll!
Posted Feb. 3, 2013
The Summer schedule has filled up nicely, eh! New places. Same old bands! More details, especially on the Outlets at The Greene, as they become available.
Posted Jan. 23, 1013
Yeah, I know...
But dates as they stand at the moment are over to the left, and another Summer of Thursday nights at Willie's (formerly All Sports) patio are in the offing. Let's do this thing...
And Friday night Feb. 1st, The Mind Reels will be playing Dayton Does Dayton at Canal Street Tavern along with several other of Dayton's finest. And also including Special Guest original Mind Reel Mark Hunter. Our half-hourish set should commence around 7:30.
Posted July 11, 2012
Couple of additions to the Summer schedule - two August weekends at the Booth, and a July 22 set at Hauer Music. We'll be there from 5-6.
Posted June 3, 2012
Late addidition to the schedule - The Outlets will be playing at the 2nd annual SCP Automotive Cruz'in. It goes from 12 to 6, and we;ll be in there somewhere. Details over on the left, and you could also email email@example.com for info.
Posted May 25, 2012
1) Next Thursday (May 31), The Mind Reels will be at All Sports from 8-11, as has been the norm. But starting the following Thursday (June 7) we will be there EVERY Thursday through August, and the time will be moved up to 7-10. So you can come out, have dinner, hang out with us, and still be home at a reasonable shool-night hour.
2) Our Borostock appearance is on the 29th, not the 22nd. Govern yourselves accordingly.
3) Other stuff.
Tomorrow, The Outlets will be zooming up to Fort Loramie, if that's a real place, to play at somebody's wedding. I don't know if they know what they're in for, but they originally booked the Sons, so it could've been weirder...
Posted April 23, 2012
It was a two-gig Saturday last week - first a rousing set at The Record Gallery to celebrate Record Store Day, then a lovely evening at Nick's in Xenia.
Posted April 15, 2012
Yeah, yeah, I'm a slug. Anyway, new dates to the left. More to come, including mostly every-other-week Thursday nights at All Sports again.See you twice next Saturday. Happy tax day!
Posted Dec. 24, 2011
It's Christmas Eve. Hope you're all having a great season. Next Friday it's Talegators, and New Year's Eve at the VFW Middletown (not open to the general public, sadly).
2011 was a good year, and 2012 is a Rush album. Let's do it all again.
Posted Dec. 8, 2011
Just a quick post with a last minute date - Saturday Dec. 10 at All Sports. 9 to 1. Be in the vicinity.
Posted Sept. 27, 2011
The NEW old Mind Reels CD is out! Available at gigs and as CD or dowloads from CD Baby. The opening track, Anastasia, has been on this site from day 1, but the rest will be new to you - they were recorded back in in 1998-2000 for a second album that never happened. Now it's happening...
New dates finally added. Sorry to be so behind, but I've been involved in the pointless and, frankly, insane 50/90 Challenge, in which one tries to write (or co-write) 50 songs in the 90 days between July 4 and October 1. I hit 50 this past Sunday, thereby proving my insanity. The results, for better and worse, are here if anyone's interested.
See you at All Sports!
Posted August 23, 2011
Sorry for the sporadic updates - busy times, indeed. Just want to add that we'll be at All Sports Thursday, August 25. Last Summer Thursday there, so if you've ever been curious, show up now.
And even more excitingly (as if that were possible), September will see the release of the long lost Mind Reels CD, Unearthed. We should definitely have them in time for Talegators - plus, the tunes will be available on iTunes, Napster, and Amazon. Details as they become available...
Posted July 5, 2011
First, thanks to all who came out to the Trolley for the Outlets show - it was hot in more ways than one.
I hadn't posted this late-breaking news, but we'll be at All Sports tomorrow night - it's a private party, but the place is still open to the public, so come on out. Also, this Friday the 8th, we've got another last minute gig at the Middletown VFW, 8-12 according to Lumpy. If you happen to be around either of those places... you know what to do.
Posted June 29, 2011
Busy times ahead - three straight nights of Mind Reels/Outlets action. I expect to be spent by Sunday, but what the heck, I don't gotta work Monday.
Anyhoo, I'm just posting our every-other-Thursday All Sports gigs for next month. C'mon out, the a patio's lovely place to spend an evening. Plus Lumpy said something about July 8th in Middletown, but I have no idea what that's all about. Details as they become available.
Posted June 20, 2011
New date posted over there - it's a private party, but Lumpy said to post it, as it makes us look busier. Hard to argue with that.
Posted June 1, 2011.
First off, lotsa new dates and new places over to the left, including Outlets gigs, since we're *all* Outlets now.
And secondly, here, for better and worse, warts and all, is every song performed by the original recipe four-piece electric Mind Reels at what I now like to call "Scooterpalooza" this past Friday, plus a couple of videos courtesty of Bart Frye. Now you can enjoy the sights and sounds, if not the smells, of the occasion. You're welcome!
See you Thursday at All Sports - patio weather has finally arrived.
Don't recognise some of those Mind Reels songs? Perhaps you will soon...
Posted May 22, 2011
Obviously, the world managed to survive yesterday, although I'm sure it was a close call. And we actually had nice weather for last night's patio gig - it would't have been a bad way to go, all things considered. We can only hope for equally nice weather every other Thursday in June, as we will be at All Sports, which happens to have a very nice patio, too.
This Friday witt see the first full band electric performance of TMR since 1998, at Mark "Scooter Pie" Hunter's 50th birthday celebration. And I'll be subbing for an ailing Rob with The Outlets this Summer - I'll post dates here soon. So there's a lot going on... exciting times!
Posted Apr. 21, 2011
OK, so I got the date wrong. I blame the other two for not checking behind me. Jerks.
Anywho, Deb's Place is NOT, I repeat NOT, tomorrow night - it's Saturday night, the 23rd. Thanks to Cheryl, who saved me an extra trip out to Jamestown tomorrow.
Posted Apr. 19, 2011
The May 14 Palermo's date is now a May 14 Deb's Place date. In the mean time, if you've been there and you like it as much as I do, throw Palermo's some support. It's hard out there for a small, quality local restaurant these days.
Added note: June 18 will now be at the Knollwood Tavern in Beavercreek. More details as they become available.

New dates! Your Spring and Summer plans are now complete! Come see us al fresco - we're much better in the great outdoors!
And start saving your quarters - new old Mind Reels may become available in the near future. How exciting is that?

2011 apparently didn't think I was taking it seriously enough, so it decided to kick the everloving crap out of me, pneumonia-wise. 2011 now has my complete attention.
But back before that, we had our 73rd annual Multi-Band Super Bowl Extravaganza, which went a little like this:

OK. I'm awake. Apparently, it's a new year or something, and my annual January hibernation is coming to an end. Did I miss anything? Seems pretty much the same to me.
Anyway, new dates for 2011 over to the left. We'll see you next weekend.

More video, as we are a very visually oriented band. I call this The Headless Lumpy Collection. Enjoy at your own risk, and Randy, if your ears were burning on the way home, this is why.
Posted Oct. 24, 2010
First off, Palermo's gigs are now 8-12, not 9-1. Adjust your internal clocks accordingly,
Secondly, videos from All Sports two nights ago, featuring the ghostly presence of the very late King Canute IV of Norway:
Yes, Brandy cuts off just before the end. The trouble is not in your set.

To the left, new Palermo's dates. Below, pictures from the first one:

Video? We got video, fresh picked from Nick's two nights ago. Martin Scorsese directs.
PS - There's actually been a video linked on this site for quite some time. June 6, 2009. Click on "The Biggest Photo Update Ever"...

The wife and I regularly dine at Palermo's Restaurant on South Dixie. I highly recommend it. Now, in fact, I can doubly recommend it, because The Reels will be appearing there on Friday, October 8. Start time 9:00. Go early and dine.
Now, if I can get through this week and next, it's beach time!

I've been posting original songs of mine on my Facebook account since early this year. A couple of folks have asked me if I could I could post them elsewhere, so I have set up a page for them, and a permanent link over on the right. So if you're interested, go visit RC's Accidental Album Page and take a good healthy listen.

So Saturday Night was our next-to-last Summer patio evening at Nick's in Xenia. So what's the deal with Nick's At Night?

A WEEKEND WITH THE BAND
Never played Canal Street before, so I get to cross that room off my list.
Men in action (inaction?)
Change of pace - a wedding reception for some good friends of the band(s) at steamin' hot Carillon Park. Thankfully, inside.
A lovely day for a (long) drive up to Grand Lake St. Mary's, the site of our own local ecological disaster (actually, there were plenty of boats out on the lake, and we didn't smell a thing).
Posted July 18, 2010
A couple of changes off to the left there.
First off - this Thursday the (the 22), we'll be opening for Ukiah (also featuring Lumpy) at Canal Street Tavern.
Secondly - this Saturday, we will *not* be at Nick's. We have a prior engagement. Twice-monthly Nick-ing will resume thereafter.
Bonus - new Deb's dates. That place was crazy Friday evening.
Posted June 14, 2010
More new dates - it's shaping to be a busy Summer. And note that, having conquered Xenia, we keep moving ever eastward. In this case, Jamestown.
At this rate, by next Summer, we'll be playing somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Summer dates up now - Stop out and see us, or else...
Posted March 2, 2010
The snow-murdered February Springs gig has been rescheduled for the 19th - meaning three gigs in four days. Stop out and see us, or else...
Posted Feb. 10, 2010
Well, so far this year, it's Mother Nature 1, Mind Reels 0. But it's early, and frankly, we've never much respected Mother Nature, and we're not about to start now. C'mon out to J Alans Friday night, and flip her off with us.
Meanwhile, tradition MUST be respected, so here's this year's annual Bosstones/Annie Crackie/Outlets/Sons/Mind Reels Super Bowl Party recap:
Posted Jan. 11, 2010
Long time no talk, eh? Well, my laptop is down for the count, so I've finally broken down and loaded the necessary software on the wife's netbook... so anyway, hello folks! We are taking January off, so you haven't missed anything. And here's a picture from warmer times. Happy New Year!
Posted Oct. 6, 2009
Much as it pains me to say so...
Lumpy was right - the place is now called Harley's, apparently. Even though there's NOTHING on the internet about a Harley's in West Carrollton. And there's plenty of info about a "Charley's Web" at that very address, and with the same phone number.
Oh, well, even a blind squirrel gets a nut every now and then, as they say. Anyway, we had quite the fun evening, and I was off to Lake Erie the next morning (no vacation pictures will be posted this time, probably).
On Sunday, October 25, from noon to 4, we'll be playing outside of Harbor Freight at 1933 Needmore Road, for some sort of gathering. I believe it's a political event, if you're into that sort of thing. If not, just come hang out with us.
There's three things we will not be discussing - politics, religion, and politics.
Posted Sept. 18, 2009
Leave it to Lumpy to feed me bad info. The place we're playing next Friday is Charley's Web, not Harley's. It's right smack dab in the middle of downtown West Carrollton.
So shoot on out there and help me celebrate - I'm outta here for a week's vacation the next morning! Woo hoo!!
Posted Sept. 15, 2009
Sorry for the unpostiness - computer problems.
Anyway, the result is you get last minute notice on some dates, like night-after-tomorrow on the patio at All Sports in Xenia, and Sept. 25 at Harley's in West Carrollton (a place I can find no info about on the internet, so if y'all got any further info, help a fella out).
Posted July 28, 2009
So if you missed the Xenia patio party (pictured below), now you have a second chance: Thursday, August 13 at All Sports Bar & Grill, 8 to 11. That and other new dates on the schedule just over there <----- .

New dates at Hank's Pub to your left.
Meanwhile, we played in a record store this past Sunday - Gem City Records in the Oregon District, to be exact:
Posted Apr. 6, 2009
First off, if you're gonna miss us terribly during the month we'll be off, here's a chance for a quick fix - on Sunday, April 19, we and three other musical acts will be doing 30 minute or so sets at Gem City Records, next door to the Oregon Express. Starting around 1:00
Last Friday at The Springs, everybody was extremely happy:
Now if y'all will excuse me, I got some basketball to watch.
Posted Mar. 28, 2009
Good times last night at J Alans, despite my being under the weather. Good times including bar-top dancing, and a frank exchange of views regarding Kansas Basketball, set to music*.
Good enough times, in fact, that we booked a couple more dates Downtown, if you'll look to your left. I should be well by then...
*Some have suggested that The Kansas Song sounded a lot like the The Bellbrook Song, but I assure you they are very much different musically.
Posted Mar. 24, 2009
Ah... what was the name of that place we played last Wednesday?
[Note that we'll be back at The Pub on Wednesday, May 27.]
Then came Saturday night at Scor:
Then some other stuff happened. Then we all went home.
Posted Mar. 8, 2009
Another weekend of fun - thanks to all who came out to The Springs and Hank's Pub. We had good times.
And for future reference: hands off Eddie's tambourine, people. There will be severe consequences for transgressors. (No, I don't know what that entails.)
But I'm mainly here to post five - count 'em, FIVE - new dates on the schedule at left. And that's not even counting the April 3 Springs date that I put up last week without comment.
Not to mention that we got us a new establishment over there. The Bayview Pub sits on the shore of Grand Lake St. Mary's. The gigs there will be outside on the patio, on Sunday afternoons 4 to 8. Could be some serious kicks - plus you could always swing over by Greenville and pick up a sack of Maid Rites.
Or, if you're Rip Chisel, a delicious egg salad sandwich...
Posted Feb. 3, 2009
The verdict is in - we are *NOT* man enough. The March 20 date at J Alans has been pushed back a week. Whew - we dodged a bullet there.
Also, check it out! We will be making our Mind Reel debut at The Trolley Stop in May. It's like homecoming - we've all played the Trolley hundreds of times back in the day...
Speaking of which, the traditional Bosstones/Annie Crackie/Outlets/Mind Reels Super Bowl party took place Sunday. Apologies, as I forgot to bring the real camera, so I had to use the dreaded cell phone:
Posted Jan. 29, 2009
Just a reminder that you still have two days to get your cars dug out so you can make it to Scor Saturday night. Dig, my friends, dig!
Let this thought warm you as you dig - we just booked two new dates with the Lumpy-lovers at Hank's Pub. Suh-weet!
Posted Jan. 20, 2009
March Madness - The third week of March becomes even crazier, if that's possible: March 21 is now booked at Scor - that's three gigs in four days. Are we man enough? Who can say?
Speaking of "man enough":
